Established in 1959 by reputed advocate, social worker and educationist Devendra Swarup (1912-1995) and managed by P.P.N. Memorial Society, P.P.N. College is one of the premiere educational institutions of Uttar Pradesh. The college is proud of imparting the best education in 19 Undergraduate and 13 Postgraduate subjects in Arts, Science, Commerce and Business Administration against minimum amount of fee in the city. Since its inception the college, in spite of limited resources, holds a prominent place on national map in research and teaching.

A number of great personalities like K.N.Vanchoo, Chief Justice of India, P.N.Bhagwati, Chief Justice of India, Asok Sen, Law Minister, Government of India, Vishnukant Shastri, Governor of Uttar Pradesh have visited the college and appreciated the academic activities, research and discipline maintained in the campus. Hundreds of students of the college are serving the country holding prominent administrative posts in and outside the state. A number of students are working in various research institutions like I.I.T., B.A.R.C., T.I.F.R., I.S.R.O. and contributing to the development of the nation. Even outside the country some students are actively engaged in research activities. Dr. Amit Sharma, an alumni of the college, has recently published a research paper in collaboration with 2007 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, Dr. A. Fert.

Presently around 70 research scholars are pursuing Ph.D. research in various subjects under the supervision of teachers of the college. A number of research projects by UGC, CSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology are being successfully run by the college scholars. Under the able guidance of Shri Yogendra Swarup, President, Management Committee and his son Shri Shivendra Swarup, the college has opened B.B.A. Programme along with eight short term Diploma Courses to meet the growing demands of students and need of the time to make the traditional education job-oriented and global. The college is one of the leading colleges of the state where teaching through smart boards, filtered drinking cold water, and Generator as power back up facilities have been provided to make an atmosphere congenial for academic pursuits.
